Multiple Teams · Football Newsletter: 11/13-18: Burbank Week…1st Round of Playoffs!

It is an exciting time for our football program!  As half of the teams in the state of Texas go home after school now, we get to continue practicing and playing football in the best playoff system in the country: the Texas High School Football State Playoffs!  I’m super proud of all of our teams this year.  We have battled against more adversity than any previous season I can remember. Here is how the teams ended the regular season:

  • Varsity: 6 wins, 3 losses.  5A Division 1 State Playoff Qualifier: 2nd seed
  • JV Gold: 6 wins, 3 losses.
  • JV White: 4 wins, 5 losses: 4 of those losses coming to 6A Katy ISD programs.
  • 9th Gold: 9-0 Undefeated District Champions
  • 9th White: 7-1-1 and District Champions
  • Total program: 32-12-1  (71% winning percentage)
We are definitely on the right track and I am excited about the future of our program!

If you are interested in helping with the varsity team breakfast on Saturday, 11/18, please let me know.  The food and all the fixings have been taken care of and all we would need is parent volunteers to help serve.  We will start serving at 6:45 am in the cafeteria.  You can email or call me to let me know you are coming or just show up!
If you don’t want to drive, but want to go to the game in San Antonio on Saturday, we are having a fan bus! It is a chartered bus that will leave from Foster to San Antonio on Saturday. For more details:
When we win this 1st round of playoffs, we will play next week which is Thanksgiving week.  We will know more information about time, date, and place sometime this week.  We won’t know our opponent until Friday night.  The expectation is that all varsity players make every practice during Thanksgiving week. Scout players are asked to come but not required to attend Thanksgiving practices.  Please plan to have your varsity player at practice all week, including Thanksgiving Day next week.  Thanksgiving Day practice will be a short run-thru in the morning before we all go home and sit down and eat and watch football all day!  The official Thanksgiving week practice schedule will come out when we get our win on Saturday.
Grades for the 2nd six weeks are due on Monday, 11/13.  If your player failed for the 2nd six weeks, his football season will be officially over.  There is no need to practice as a scout team player or varsity player.  Varsity players that fail will not need to attend practices because they will not travel with the team as their season will be officially over.
Once our season officially ends (Not until Christmas I hope!), I will update you on what to expect for off-season and what our expectations will be for your son as we enter off-season, winter and spring sports, and spring football in May.
Thank you for allowing to coach your sons this season and we are ready to continue our winning ways and make a deep run into the playoffs!
