History of the Old Fashioned Cocktail:

In 1806, the editor of the Balance and Columbian Repository responded to a reader’s request for the meaning of the word cocktail as a potent concoction of spirits, bitters, water and sugar.  By the 1830’s this cocktail was the most consumed libation throughout new York, but following the advent of other liquors and mixers it lost its popularity to more complex drinks.  Eventually, drinkers grew tired of the highly adorned cocktails and by the 1850’s they started asking for the “old fashioned” cocktail again.  Today there are several variations of the old Fashioned, but the original recipe is still the most popular.

Thank you Stephanie for coordinating for the Foster aquatic teams.

Silent auction will be live Saturday, Jan 23, 8am.
